In 2020, dramatic increases in the sales volumes of 2 and 3 litre boxes of wine and the need for speed and efficiency brought Liquibox to our door on behalf of their customer Pernod Ricard.
The closing component formed part of a much bigger project in which we had already erected the Regular Slotted Cases for the wine bladders. The boxes were to bottom closed (top of box) with hotmelt glue. Size changeouts were to be manual, adjusted without tools and with the ability to adjust >20% up or down.
Cases were to be received single file with the short edge leading with the bag and filler cap completely within the case and free of the flaps.
We recommended a continuous motion design with side drive belts, a rear flap tucker and a spring-loaded glue compression section using a Nordson glue system.
These style of erecting and closing machines are totally within the RML wheelhouse and dozens are working away tirelessly in factories all over the world.
