Like most companies, Primo was looking for an automation solution to improve efficiency on the production line. To do this, they required a solution that could release the human potential that was hand-packing on this line and put it to better use in other areas of their business.
To assist Primo in achieving this objective, we customised a solution based on our standard Wraparound case packing machine, which provided them with a cheaper and more effective option in their packaging automation.
The solution drew on methods proven over our 40 years in the business of providing automation solutions, and an in-depth understanding of the plant parameters, units per day and consumables.
As seen in the video, the infeed involves a flighted conveyor that works off two servo motors and a 2-Axis Delta robot. This allows a continuous flow of infeed products with manageable intermittent handling to allow time to package the product. We had used the foundation machinery and automation technology before, which allowed us to easily tailor it to meet the specific requirements of the various thermo formed packs. Our engineers also helped to redesign the perforation lines and artwork on the cases to further assist Primo in improving their production efficiency.
