The challenge faced by Inghams was during the process of applying lids to a selection of their boxes that head out for food service delivery. Some of the boxes are overfull and have large amounts of plastic protruding over the box, which had to be considered during the design of this customised lidder. An additional challenge was that the machine was located in a freezer environment, which required innovative design from our team regarding material and part selection that would suit the conditions.
The solution provided for Inghams was a customised G103 Lidder, capable of lidding 30 boxes per minute. The machine gates and singulates boxes into the infeed, plucks and aligns a lid over the box, before positively pushing both the box and lid through the glue section and into compression. The continuous motion of the machine creates a smooth operating process and ensures optimum speed with excellent control.
